Asia - ArenaBulletproof CDVEST69, 1995
This album kicks off with a Carlos Santana-like instrumental, which relaxes you gently (almost seamlessly) into the first track Into the Arena. And the scene is set, the entire album is laid-back and soft, with a very summery feel. Tracks like The Day before the War are packed with emotion, but the majority are just comfortable listening. I can't help but feel that the reconstituted Asia has finally found its footing with this album - no longer trying to emulate what has been done before but forging a new direction of quality and listening pleasure. At the time of writing, this is the Asia album I play most - it's great! Rating: ***** Best track for radio: Two sides of the moon
