RPWL - Trying to kiss the sun
Inside Out 693273651729, 2002
The introduction to the first track on this album (the title track)
reminds me strongly of Kula Shaker's opening track on Peasants Pigs and
Astronauts, but it isn't long before it bursts into a powerful and rocky
song which sets the style for this album. RPWL's last release God Has
Failed was very much Pink Floyd, and the depressive side of Pink Floyd at
that, but this album proves that the band has now established its own identity
and no way can it be called a cover band any more.
All of the material sounds very bright and fresh but doesn't place
itself in any musical era. There are some brilliant tracks here, You is
my personal favourite, bit there are many other contenders. Wonderful harmonies, brilliant electric guitar, powerful songs - you can't go wrong. You'll play this CD
to death!
